Digitally Signing a PDF

Instructions from Josh Nehring 5/2/2016

An increasing number of documents are requiring the use of digital signatures for signing. I have received many questions recently on how to digitally sign a document. Here are the instructions for doing so:

  1. Insert your LincPass into card reader.
  2. Open PDF document in Adobe Reader or Acrobat and click on signature field.
  3. When prompted for a signature, select applicable name in dropdown (if it’s not already pre-selected).
  4. Click sign.
  5. Save the signed document with a new name.
  6. Provide your LincPass pin.

Note: A printed document with a digital signature is not considered a valid/original document. The digitally signed file (PDF) is the document containing the official signature.

Thanks, Josh
