The International Carrot Conference is a biennial event that attracts people from private industry, government, and universities from throughout the world. The conference is an excellent way for people to exchange ideas and concerns on all aspects of carrot production. Topics, such as breeding, production, pest management, and new products, will be discussed in formal paper sessions, poster sessions, discussions and a field tour. There will be ample opportunity to interact with others during the social gatherings. This year's conference is hosted by Washington State University.
Washington ranks first in the United States in production of processing carrots, and fourth in production of fresh market carrots. Carrots for the fresh market are planted from early April to late May, and harvested from July to October. This extended planting period ensures a long period of fresh market availability. Processing carrots are harvested in October or November.
Events include: Paper Sessions • Poster Sessions • Discussion Sessions • Banquet • Field Tours, including carrot cultivar trial, processing and fresh market crops and seed crops. |
